Looking at the Boston skyline there are cranes in every direction. From Fenway, the Back Bay, Seaport and Downtown Crossing there has been an incredible amount of new construction happening. There is also some large scale new development slated for the North End / Waterfront and specifically the new Hub on Causeway project. This mega-project will be on the site of the Old Boston Garden and encompass over 1.5 million square feet of shopping, restaurants, offices, hotel and residences. The anchor tenant of the development will be Boston’s largest supermarket. Star Market will be taking multi-level retail space expanding over 210,000 square feet. In addition a 15 screen movie theater will be coming to the neighborhood. Phase II of the project will focus on both residences and a hotel. A 440 unit tower has been reported to part of this phase; it is still undetermined whether it will be apartments or condominiums.
