Tall Ships Coming To Boston Waterfront To Celebrate And Educate

Tall Ships Coming Back To Boston Summer 2012

Tall Ships Coming To Boston Summer 2012

Operation Sail, Inc. (OpSail), a national non-profit organization, will be bringing tall ships to Boston this summer! This summer’s festivities will be a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 and the Star Spangled Banner. The ships will sail into Boston on June 30th and depart from Boston on July 5th.

When asked about this summer’s activities, Jose Fuentes, Chairman of Operation Sail, Inc. said, “Partnership with U.S. Navy in this magnificent international Waterfront spectacle in Boston will showcase the character-building aspects of sail training and why it is so important to preserve our maritime heritage”.

The two primary locations for the ships will be Fish Pier, located in the Seaport District, and the Charlestown Navy Yard. As these boats sail along Boston’s Harbor, various activities will be held along the Boston Harborwalk.

Aside from Fish Pier and the Navy Yard, the best locations for viewing the tall ships will be Battery Wharf, Burroughs Wharf, Commercial Wharf, Lewis Wharf, Lincoln Wharf, and Union Wharf.

Get the most from your trip to Boston!  Visit Boston, and you’ll discover the charm of one of America’s oldest and most Historical Waterfronts.  Boston’s many tourism and historical attractions provide visitors with plenty of places to explore and interesting things to do.

Naturally, Boston has changed a lot since Samuel Adams and fellow Sons of Liberty plotted their tea party in the local taverns near the Boston Waterfront – but you’ll still find the old Wharfs plus plenty of other authentic historical sites, right next to skyscrapers, gleaming hotels, and some of the best Waterfront Locations the city has to offer to call home.

The Enjoyment and Convenience of Waterfront Living

North End BostonPerhaps you’re an empty-nester or just looking to make life a little easier by downsizing.  If so, then this is a great time to seize the moment and make the move to the North End/Waterfront, since interest rates are still at an all time low and the prices for condos are still lower. When choosing a location within the city, you will undoubtedly consider what makes a neighborhood most attractive.

Residing within walking distance of some of the city’s finest restaurants, theaters, sailing centers, universities and hospitals makes the Waterfront so very attractive.  Try taking cooking classes at a North End restaurant or a sailing class at the Boston Sailing Center.  The North Bennet Street School located in North End has been teaching craftsmanship for 125 years.  The school offers classes in Woodworking, Jewelry, Calligraphy, and Bookbinding just to mention a few.

Perhaps take a stroll over to Charlestown to visit the U.S.S. Constitution or Bunker Hill Monument.  Perhaps take a harbor walk along the Waterfront on a glorious day by stepping out your front door.

Glide to a Celtics or Bruins game and amble home in a matter of minutes.  There’s more enjoyment and gratification in entertaining your family and friends when all these sites can be visited without the use of an automobile. Boston’s Waterfront offers all this and much, much more.

Get out and explore Boston’s Waterfront by visiting The Boston Harborwalk!

From the promenades in East Boston and the boardwalks of Charlestown, through the busy wharfs of the North End/Waterfront, from the bustling Fort Point Channel through the South Boston working port to the beaches of South Boston and Dorchester, there are so many exciting places to go.

The Boston Harborwalk is an inviting public walkway along the waterfront. There are parks, public art, seating areas, cafes, exhibit areas, water transportation facilities, and a wide range of other amenities. The Boston Harbor Association works closely with the City of Boston’s Environmental Department, the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, and waterfront property owners to ensure completion of the 46.9 mile Harborwalk.
